The death of DEA Special Agent Kiki Camarena in Guadalajara in 1985 hit me deeply as a high school senior and inspired me to seek a career with DEA. Way back in 2011, when I first started teaching drug abuse prevention around the world in difficult places like Medellin, San Salvador, and Tijuana, I always had the dream that some day I would go to Guadalajara to publicly talk about Kiki. Today I spoke to 200+ students at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara and I spoke to them of Kiki, his sacrifice and his legacy. The kids were super respectful. Tomorrow I will speak at the medical school here. The sacrifice is not forgotten.
